Consumer Reviews

Let me get started by saying that this game is by no means a rushed port or a port at all IMO, it is a nicely done remake with a refreshing array of added attributes, so do your self a favor, read user evaluations and decide for yourself. Forget about the "critics" and their biased opinions. Here's the scoop from a dude playing the game as we speak...
When Ninja Gaiden very first came out for the original Xbox, it was one particular of these games that was insanely tricky and frustrating at times, in a fantastic way of course, and it kept me coming back for extra from the wonderful combos, to the fluid chopping of limbs, it was bloody, gore heaven made in a disc.
Now the PS Vita version is out and I have to say, IT IS Outstanding! Do not be fooled by bad reviews accusing the game of getting a poor rushed port of an old game, mainly because it is not. Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus has kept me playing all afternoon and will do so for the rest of the night and in all probability all week, as soon as I start the hardest mode.
Fans of the original will appreciate the truth that the game has kept its insane hard levels, these new to the series or these who are merely trying to have a bit of gore prior to lunch is over, will be happy to know that this version of the game has an simple and easy mode, that as the word implies, makes the game a breeze to play when you do not have much time to figure out how to save your personal butt from a horde of negative dudes trying to slice your head... Game modes include things like Hero Mode (easiest), Regular (difficult ), and Tricky (shave your head in advance) and Ninja Trials (feel of this as Batman's challenge maps)
The graphics have been polished and especially effectively carried out, lighting effects are spot on and I even noticed shadows. But please don't forget, this game is 8 years old, so do not anticipate a next generation sort of graphics, but they did an exceptional job at it, the game looks impressive. I didn't notice any frame drops, the game, even for the duration of heavy battles, kept a nice even flow. The storyline is the identical, Ryu is in search of the stolen blade and must avenge his clan's death. You'll fight foes left and suitable, from samurais, to ninjas to some mystic badass beasts and of course, wicked boss fights.
If you played the original, I am sure you keep in mind how frustrating it was to cycle by means of items such as Elixirs, nicely, you'll be glad to know that you can know browse by means of well being and ninpo elixirs by utilizing the D-Pad, side methods you chose, down you use, uncomplicated.
Yet another superb addition, even though working with the bow and arrow, you can now basically tap the screen and you aim with either the stick or by moving the vita itself, tap on the enemy to shoot at him...once more, a heaven sent feature, I hated the original procedure, I got my butt kicked whereas aiming. If you want to just shoot your arrows with no precise aiming, basically press the O button. To zoom in and out, use L/R.
Ninpo has also changed, it is activated by pressing two buttons at time (x+o becoming a single), then the screen asks you to tap the rear touch pad of your vita to use the ninpo, which provides your ninpo a "energy up" option, kinda of a charging choice if you need to. I personally didn't care for this function, I like the way it was just before, two buttons and away we go. Don't get me incorrect though, it is still a nice added function.
My assistance to you, specially if you are a fan, GET THIS GAME. Do not be fooled by the so known as "critics" critiques, this game is as always, fun, difficult and now you can have it in the palm of your hands. Trust me, you will like it. If you are new to the series, get ready for a ride, this game is addictive and you are going to be coming back for a lot more. Yes, I admit, the story is the exact same as the original, but how could it transform?. The game has added characteristics that give it a refreshing touch that at least, fans of the series, like myself, really appreciate. I cannot review it any longer than this without having spoiling the whole knowledge, so I will let you enjoy it your self. Peace.

Substantially has been said about this game on other platforms so I will not repeat it right here. Suffice it to say this is Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PS3, on a transportable. Feel about that for a second - A PS3 game on a transportable. Yes, that game was in fact a port from the xbox, but nevertheless. The size and scope of this game on a transportable device just blows my thoughts. Whilst the port itself is not flawless, the fact that it is the original Ninja Gaiden in all its glory on a portable device makes up for it. This game is just as fine as ever, and consists of the sigma add-ons to boot. Now, for the Vita precise stuff...
Anyway - so what are the modifications? Essentially they are pretty couple of. Gone is the goofy "shake the controller to energy ninpo" mechanic on the ps3, replaced with a slightly much less goofy "press random spots on the back touchpad of the vita to power ninpo" mechanic. Turning on the Karma counter has been moved to a menu item since the button it would have been mapped to is not present, and going into first individual mode is achieved by touching the screen, which operates, but I come across myself occasionally touching it by accident when moving the camera and this can cause me to drop into very first person mode occasionally when I do not want to. More annoyingly, the action button (for opening doors, boxes, and so on) has been moved to the circle button, which causes me to occasionally lose an arrow when I accidentally fire it rather of opening some box or door. This is annoying, but not a huge concern.
Typically the new touch applications of the vita are implemented somewhat haphazardly. As talked about, you touch the screen to go into first person mode - ok fine. Firing the bow can be attempted either like it often has with the perfect stick, or a lot more weirdly by pressing the spot you want the arrow to go on the screen, which appears like a decent idea, but can lead to some weird effects, in particular if you have fat fingers. You can also aim the bow (or just initially person mode) by moving the vita around itself through the gyros, but if you're like me and have the ideal button axes reversed, this mapping follows into gyro movement and tends to make entirely no sense - you tilt the device up and the screen view goes down. What was definitely necessary was separate choices for this manage mapping and the ideal stick FPS mapping. minus points for lazyness.
This isn't the only touch screen weirdness either. The save file choose function is accomplished by way of touch, but ONLY this - no other menus are touch enabled - which is absolutely rediculous. This is the sort of factor that will need to be all or absolutely nothing, otherwise, it's just confusing.
Gameplay itself is just fine on the other hand. The framerate is smooth and there are no noticable adjustments beyond what was currently accomplished in Sigma, so these of you familiar with that game will be able to jump perfect in and kick ass. I have a slight suspicion, though not anything at all confirmed, that the difficulty was toned down a notch - I'm currently playing on 'normal' and locate my self blowing by way of battles that would generally be a lot harder - say for instance the motorcycle guys in Tairon - appear considerably less complicated than they utilized to be. On the other hand, Spider Clan ninjas are just as tough as ever, so possibly not.
Speaking of gameplay - for all you wimps out there there is a wimp mode called "hero mode", which is laughable. As opposed to earlier iterations of "ninja dog" mode which required you sucking a lot ahead of it was unlocked and came along with continuous insults from Ayane, "hero" mode is accessible from the start out and essentially tends to make you invincible. Following your well being gets beneath a certain level, you basically auto-block and have unlimited ninpo, which removes practically all challenge from the game.
There is also a challenging mode which I have not tried however, and I suspect an "ultimate" mode as there was in all prior versions of the game, but as I am nevertheless in chapter six, I cannot comment yet.
General, this is an typical port of an remarkable game. I cannot consider of too many consumers who have not played the original ninja gaiden, but if you're 1 of them, this is an superb time to give it a shot. For these of you who have played it and want one thing to tide you more than until NGIII, or want some top quality NG on a portable, this is exactly where to get it. The only complaint at this point would be the value, but soon adequate that will most likely drop.
4 Stars - minus a single for stupid touch UI choices.
